One Night Ultimate Werewolf Game 3 Overview

This is an overview of the previously posted story mode.
This round we included the Masons and the Drunk. By this time, we had started to figure out why discussion would be useful. I initially wondered what the point of the Masons were, but then proposed that if the Masons revealed who they were, we could potentially narrow down who the Werewolves were. President Gamer was against this saying that the Masons are a secret society, so their members wouldn’t just reveal themselves like that. When Shutter freely admitted to being a Mason, and President Gamer groaned in outrage, we figured he was the other Mason.
 
The Professor tried the logic that maybe President Gamer was lying to throw us off track, but when President Gamer genuinely said “That’s a good idea!” we knew he was a Mason. We then voted, and The Professor received the most votes, so he died. He was a villager. I was the Drunk, but became werewolf when I randomly switched my card with one in the middle. We thought that made sense. The town drunk is wandering around at night and gets turned into a werewolf. I was the only werewolf. Team Werewolf won.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf Game 3

This is another misadventure in the land of Lobstopia, check out the tag for more.“Someone here must be a werewolf,” Professor said. “We’re not leaving until we find out who it is.”
 
Glances were exchanged across the room.
 
“Maybe if we knew who the Masons were, it’d be easier to figure out,” Chubby Unicorn said.
 
Despite the slight slur to her words, Professor agreed she had a point there.
 
“It’s not going to happen,” President Gamer said. “Masons are a secret society. You can’t be a secret society if you go around telling people what you are.”
 
“I’m a Mason,” Shutter said.
 
President Gamer groaned.
 
“He must be one, too,” Clumsy Ninja said.
 
“Or maybe that’s what he wants us to think, to throw us off track,” Professor said.
 
“That’s a good idea!” President Gamer exclaimed.
 
“He’s the Mason,” Chubby Unicorn said.
 
Despite these revelations, the discussion continued long after sunset. At some point Chubby Unicorn stumbled out into the night, but somehow found her way back as well.
 
“Let’s just put it to a vote, shall we?” Clumsy Ninja proposed.

Velociraptor! Cannibalism!

We’d only played this game once before, and Space Cat gained a reputation as an egg stealer as a result.  It had been a while, though, so we did a refresher on the rules.  Since the three cards we drew were all high level predators, we decided to give the deck another shuffle before actually starting.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf Game 2 Overview

This is the overview of the previously posted story mode.
During this game things we started to get a bit smarter. Most of us realized we needed to make more noise in general (so as not to be so easily identified).
Having both the Robber and the Troublemaker made things a bit interesting as it resulted in one of the original Werewolves being turned into a Villager.
 
Once again we pointed at random and The Professor and Space Cat tied which meant they both died. Since neither one was a Werewolf (they were a Villager and Troublemaker, respectively) the Werewolf team won.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf Game 2

The villagers looked down at the bodies of The Professor and Space Cat and wondered how this could have happened.
 
It had started with a rumor that werewolves were living in the village, and things just escalated.
 
The werewolves had tried to lay low – they hadn’t even attacked anyone! They suspected that the Seer was behind all of this, but didn’t want to do anything hasty. After all, they weren’t even sure who the Seer was.
 
The Robber had laughed to herself. It had been so easy to trick everyone. She’d laid enough false trails that no one could tell what was going on. Even the town Troublemaker had inadvertently helped her. But when people turned up dead, she stopped congratulating herself. Maybe if she hadn’t done such a good job, the villagers would have found the werewolves.
 
Space Cat had only meant to cause a little trouble that night. She never imagined that the next morning she and an innocent villager would be accused of being werewolves and immediately killed.
 
President Gamer and Clumsy Ninja were glad to have survived this sticky situation.

Cheaty Mages

This is a fairly easy game to learn. Even if you have trouble following the written directions, playing one round is enough to understand what’s going on. The only things that really change game play are the judges (changing the power limit and disallowing certain cards) and fighters like the Skeleton (inverts the power on spells). It is important to remember which cards are played face up vs face down. We had to refer back to that rule several times (Enchant cards are the only spells played face down).

Since this was a new game, we were a little hesitant playing cards during round one. Was it worth it to discard in order to look at the face down cards next to a fighter? Yes. This ability was used several times in rounds two and three in order to adjust strategies.

I really got lucky on the first round. I bet on the succubus simply because I hate fighting succubi in Diablo III.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf Game 1 Overview

This is an overview of the previously posted story mode.
This was our first time playing the game. As such it didn’t involve much discussion. We looked at our tiles, followed the announcer’s instructions, and then during the discussion phase we all just looked at each other wondering what to do. So The Professor skipped ahead on the timer, and we randomly pointed at each other. President Gamer ended up with 3 votes, so he died. He was a Werewolf (as was I), so the Werewolf team lost.

As a result of several brutal and mysterious murders, rumors had been spreading all around the village about the possibility that werewolves were responsible. As the mayor of Lobstopia, it was my job to calm the populace. Thus, I called a town meeting. Looking back, I realize that setting the meeting just before dark on the night of a full moon was not my wisest course of action. In my defense, no one else had a better meeting time. Unaware of the danger, everyone gathered anyway.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf – Overview

This is a super quick, easy, and fun game. It’s a little like Avalon, but our group had way more fun with this game. I think part of that was due to my husband getting the free app (available for Android and iTunes) that goes along with the game. There are different options for the announcer’s voice and background sounds (Shutter didn’t like the wolves).

Avalon Game 3 Play by Play

This is the play by play of the previously posted story mode.

Game 3

  • The Professor – Assassin
  • Chubby Unicorn – Morgana
  • President Gamer – Merlin
  • Shutter – Percival

Shutter begins with Leader Token.
This time around was a bit trickier with the added special characters, but we had a good handle on the game by this play through. Team proposals were rejected and questioned more, which made it harder to identify who was Merlin. Quests one and three failed, but the rest succeeded.
